Privacy Policy
What Trend Interior Home Builders does with your personal information.

Who we are
Trend Interior Home Builders (Pty) Ltd is a Cape Town home services firm trading from Unit 2 Pro Dev Park, Capricorn Business and Technology Park, Muizenberg, 7945. The firm is the responsible party for any personal information we collect and process. The Information Officer is the company's owner, Clive Anthony van Niekerk.
This policy is written under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), the South African statute that governs personal information processing.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to do the work you've asked us to do. That breaks down into:
- Contact details: name, phone number and email address, submitted to us by phone, by email, by WhatsApp or in person.
- Job-specific details: your address, the scope of work, photographs, measurements and any other information you supply so we can quote and complete the work.
- Payment records: invoices and proof-of-payment held for tax and warranty purposes.
- Compliance records: Plumbing, Electrical and Gas Certificates of Compliance issued for work completed at your property, kept on file under your address for re-supply on request.
- Anonymised website analytics: basic page-view counts and aggregate browser data via privacy-respecting analytics. No cookies that identify you personally.
We do not collect identity numbers, banking details (beyond the proof of EFT you may supply on payment), or anything else that POPIA classes as special personal information unless it's strictly necessary for the job; for example, an insurance reference for an insurance-funded repair.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, to quote the work, to do the work, to issue Certificates of Compliance, to invoice and to honour the warranty period. Specifically:
- Responding to enquiries and providing quotes.
- Scheduling and carrying out the work.
- Issuing Certificates of Compliance and warranty documentation.
- Invoicing and collecting payment.
- Honouring our 12-month workmanship warranty.
- Keeping you informed about the project: start dates, sequencing, snagging, sign-off.
- Meeting our legal obligations under tax law, the National Building Regulations, PIRB rules and SAQCC rules.
How long we keep it
Quote enquiries that don't convert to work are deleted within 12 months of last contact. Job records, Certificates of Compliance and invoices are kept for the length of time required by South African tax law (currently 5 years from the end of the relevant tax year) and by industry regulators. Compliance certificates may be kept indefinitely so we can re-supply them at the property's next sale or insurance claim.
Who we share it with
We share personal information with third parties only where it's necessary to do the work or required by law:
- Sub-contractors. Our registered installation electrician for electrical work where the project requires it. They receive only the address and scope needed to do their part of the job.
- Suppliers. Materials suppliers receive delivery details (your address, occasionally a contact name) where stock is delivered direct to site.
- Regulators. PIRB and SAQCC have access to compliance certificate records as their inspection regimes require, and our registered installation electrician's records are accessible to the Department of Labour for electrical compliance.
- Service providers. Email, hosting and quote-tracking systems we use to run the business. These providers process information on our behalf and are bound by their own data-protection obligations.
- Insurers and conveyancers. Where you've asked us to liaise with your insurer on a claim, or with a transferring attorney on a property sale, we share the relevant compliance certificates and job documentation with them on your instruction.
We do not sell your information to anyone, ever. We do not pass your contact details to marketing lists.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it if it's wrong.
- Ask us to delete it (within the limits of our retention obligations above).
- Object to processing for a specific purpose.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we've handled your information improperly.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@trendinterior.co.za with the subject line "POPIA request". We respond within 30 days.
Security
We hold personal information in commercially-reasonable systems with access limited to staff who need it to do the work. Compliance certificates and historical job records are kept in dedicated archives. We don't store payment card information; payment is by EFT or arranged through your own banking platform.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your information, we'll notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Children
Our services are not directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we've inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we'll delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on this page; minor wording or contact-detail updates may not be.
